INBOUND moved to San Francisco this year and ran from 3 to 5 September. HubSpot shipped more than 200 product updates around it, which is the sort of number that tells you to ignore the number and look at the shape.
The shape is agents. Eighteen new Breeze Agents in beta: seven for marketing, six for sales, five for service. Alongside them, Breeze Studio and a Breeze Marketplace, both in public beta, and Data Hub underneath the lot.
Agents demo well and everybody will write about them. Studio is the part that decides whether any of it works in your portal.
Studio is where you upload knowledge sources, set guidelines and describe your processes, so an agent has something to reason from beyond whatever happens to be in the CRM. That is HubSpot admitting the obvious: an agent with no context produces confident, plausible, wrong output at speed.
Which means the prerequisite for getting value out of any of this is having your own house in order. Clean properties. Lifecycle stages that mean something. Documented processes an agent can actually be pointed at. If those are missing, Studio gives you a faster way to be wrong.
Customer Agent is the one with a real number attached, resolving a claimed half of support tickets on its own. In a mid-market B2B business with a small support team and a lot of repeat questions, that is a genuine saving and it is measurable within a month.
Prospecting Agent surfacing buying committee insight is more interesting to us than the outreach drafting. Knowing who else is involved in an account is exactly the gap most ABM programmes have.
Content Agent learning brand voice is the one we would treat most carefully. It will get to a competent first draft. It will not get to a point of view, and in a crowded B2B category the point of view is the only thing that makes anyone read to the end.
A dull name for the thing most portals actually need. If you are running HubSpot alongside a warehouse, a product database or a Salesforce instance, the quality of that plumbing has been the ceiling on what you could report for years. Worth a proper look before you get distracted by agents.
Pilot Customer Agent if you have a support queue with repetitive volume. It is the lowest risk and the clearest payback.
Open Studio and try to write down one process properly. Not to deploy anything, but because the exercise will show you how much of your operation lives in somebody's head. That finding is worth more than the agent.
Leave the marketing agents in beta for now unless you have spare capacity to supervise them. Beta means beta, and an agent writing in your brand voice to your list is not where you want your first surprise.
And before any of it, spend a week on the portal itself. Properties, lifecycle, workflows, imports. We wrote about what a portal nobody trusts costs you in July and every announcement from this week makes that argument louder.
There was very little from the stage about buyers who research through an assistant rather than a search box. HubSpot is building agents that work inside your business. The harder question is what a machine says about your business when somebody else asks it.
That is being measured now, properly, and the answers are not flattering for most B2B brands. Resonance publishes the method rather than a score.
